Kollam: The First Class Magistrate court will hear the petition by Crime Branch seeking custody of Sandeep, the accused in the murder of Dr Vandana Das, on Tuesday. The court has asked the jail authorities in Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail to produce him before court at 11 am.
At the same time, the autopsy report of Dr Vandana Das has come out. It states that a deep wound on her lung was the cause of death. There were 17 injuries on her body and four of them were deep. A majority of the wounds were on the back. The autopsy was conducted by forensic surgeon Dr K Valsala. The report was submitted to Crime Branch on Monday.
The Crime Branch has sought the custody of Sandeep for at least four days for questioning and to collect evidence. The doctors had earlier submitted a report that Sandeep, who is now in remand, has no health issues. An expert team will be appointed to examine Sandeep’s physical and mental condition. The police submitted his phone to the court and it will be subjected to scientific examination after receiving court’s permission. The investigation is led by Rural Crime Branch DySP MM Jose.
