Canberra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has raised the issue of attacks on Hindu temples in Australia with his counterpart Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The Australian PM has in return said that strict actions will be taken against such elements in the future.

In a joint address with the Australian Prime Minister, Narendran Modi said, “PM Anthony Albanese and I have in the past discussed the issue of attack on temples in Australia and activities of separatist elements. We discussed the matter today, also. We will not accept any elements that harm the friendly and warm ties between the India-Australia relationship by their action or thoughts.”

Recently Khalistani extremists have attacked Indians in various parts of Australia. Indian flags were burnt and a Hindu temple came under attack recently.

PM Anthony Albanese during in his visit to India in March had said that his country won’t tolerate any extreme actions and attacks that took place in religious buildings. He added that there is no place for such action against Hindu temples.

A report said that in March this year, pro-Khalistani extremists vandalized the Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple situated in Brisbane in Australia. On January 16, Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs was vandalized by anti-Hindu graffiti. Also in January, BAPS Swaminarayan Mandi at Mill Park was smeared with anti-India and anti-Hindu graffiti.

The Australia Today quoted Sarah Gates, who is working as director of Hindu Human Rights, “This latest hate crime is a pattern of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) globally, clearly attempting to terrorise Australian Hindus. Coupled with a barrage of propaganda, illegal signs, and cyber bullying, the organization intends to present all-pervasive threats, fears, and intimidation.”
