New Delhi: In a much awaited Mann Ke Baat, the monthly radio address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he saluted the bravery of the soldiers martyred at Pulwama and asked his listeners to understand the feelings and determination of the families of those killed.

The 53rd edition of Mann Ke Baat comes at a crucial time. This was the first address since the Pulwama attack, which has led to worsening of relations between India and Pakistan. Incidentally, this will be the last address before the Lok Sabha Elections.

Narendra Modi said, “I salute the soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Their sacrifice will motivate us and strengthen our resolve.”

The Prime Minister continued that he will inaugurate a War Memorial to the nation tomorrow and expressed his surprise why such a Memorial was not constructed by previous governments.

He also remembered Morarji Desai whose birthday is on February 29th and also industrialists Jamshedji Tata and tribal leader Birsa Munda.

Narendra Modi reminded his listeners that in the spirit of democracy the present Mann Ke Baat address will be the last before the Lok Sabha elections.

He said,  “To honour and respect the healthy democratic practice, my next Mann Ki Baat address will be on the last Sunday of May.”

Expressing confidence in the people, the Prime Minister promised that he will return in May to deliver the next round of Mann Ke Baat.
