Thiruvananthapuram: Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan recently expressed his confidence in India’s start-up ecosystem, stating that despite the recent slump, India remains the best place for new businesses. Acknowledging the challenges faced by the Indian start-up ecosystem, Gopalakrishnan assured entrepreneurs and investors that the current downturn should not be a cause for worry. He emphasised that such periods are cyclical and often part of the natural evolution of any growing economy.

While speaking at India Today Conclave South 2023 during a session titled ‘India’s start-up ecosystem: The success and the challenges’, the 68-year-old billionaire said that “I am very very bullish on India’s start-up ecosystem over the medium to long term. India is the best place for a new business because this is going to be the fastest-growing economy in the world.”

He further added that “we will go from $3.5 trillion to $20 trillion, maybe even $40 trillion, which means that lots and lots of new businesses have to be created.”

Kris Gopalakrishnan also advised start-ups and businesses to focus on creating institutions with a long-term value proposition and emphasised the importance of staying relevant. He added, “Start-ups and businesses should aim to build a long-term institution and should have a clear vision of how their solution will bring value to customers.”
