Islamabad: Pakistan has been losing friends on the world stage since a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist attacked a CRPF convoy martyring 40 soldiers at Pulwama. Even after Indian airstrikes and Pakistan’s failed retaliation, the isolation of Pakistan continues.
The United States today warned Pakistan not to respond militarily against India. The US State Department spokesperson also asked Pakistan to abide by the United Security Council commitments and stop harbouring terrorists and to stop funding their activity.
Saudi Arabia, a close friend of Pakistan in the Arab region demanded Pakistan to desist from military action against India. The Saudi leadership also offered to mediate between the two countries.
Japan, another major power in Asia asked Pakistan to take strong action against terrorists.
Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Minister will leave for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the inaugural session of Organisation of Islamic Countries as the guest of honour. Earlier Pakistan had expressed its displeasure over India’s presence. However, the UAE leadership overrode Pakistani objection and stuck to their invitation.
Matters between India and Pakistan continue to be tense, especially since an IAF pilot Abhinandan remains in Pak custody. India fears for the safety of the officer and is trying for his safe return.
Pakistan, which is losing international support, might not want to further their isolation by hurting Indian military personnel and acting against the spirit of Geneva convention.
