During a press meet, the Higher Education Minister R Bindu raised concern over the detrimental influence of YouTuber ‘Thoppi’ on children, highlighting the significant maladaptive changes observed in their behavior. The minister urged parents and teachers to recognize these transformations from the outset and emphasized the importance of not succumbing to the notion that societal norms are evolving.

During a recent visit to Valancherry, a man known as ‘Thoppi’ received an overwhelming response from children, sparking concern among the minister. As a teacher and a mother, witnessing children applaud such behavior struck a chord with minister, highlighting the urgent need for guidance and intervention to ensure the well-being and moral development of the younger generation.

The Police reported that, Nihad (26), also known as Mrz Thoppi, a resident of Kannur, the YouTuber gained immense popularity through his online content was arrested for singing obscene song and creating a traffic block at Valanchery. With a substantial following of 6.96lakh subscribers, mainly consisting of young adults, ‘Thoppi’ resorted to spreading toxic and explicit content on social media to attract more subscribers, thus misleading the younger generation.

A complaint has been filed against ‘Thoppi’ for making obscene remarks and causing traffic disruptions during an inauguration event in Valancherry. The complaint alleged that the YouTuber sang obscene songs in the presence of numerous teenagers, leading to two-hour traffic congestion on the Valanchery-Calicut road. Subsequently, the police summoned ‘Thoppi’ to appear before them, but he failed to comply, resulting in his arrest at his residence in Cochin.

According to the police, multiple cases have been registered against ‘Thoppi’ for his offensive activities. The arrest serves as a significant step in curbing his harmful influence and ensuring the safety of impressionable young minds.
