Thrissur District Collector VR Krishna Teja, accompanied by a team, conducted a surprise visit to enforce compliance with trawling regulations. The inspection encompassed sea and harbor areas, with the support of the fisheries department staff and the police.
Departing from Chettuva Fishery Harbour, the team embarked on an extensive patrol in the sea, meticulously examining fishing boat records. The Collector verified the use of prohibited nets, ensuring that no violations were detected during the inspection.
Upon returning from the sea, the Collector engaged in direct discussions with the local fishermen, addressing their concerns.
The inspection team included Sub-Collector Mohammad Shafiq, Chavakkad Tahsildar TK Shaji, Fisheries Deputy Director KT Anitha, Assistant Director MN Sulekha, Extension Officers C Ashwin Raj and UM Shruti Mol, Assistant Officer Leena Thomas, and Marine Enforcement Civil Police Officer VN Prashan Kumar.
