AP Abdullakutty slams Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s opposition to UCC; says comrade EMS was Brand Ambassador in the past

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP National Vice President A. P. Abdullakutty has expressed strong criticism towards the CPM and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for their opposition to the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). In his post, Abdullakutty reminded Pinarayi Vijayan not to forget that Comrade EMS supported and was the brand ambassador of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

Abdullakutty further asserts that it is useless to quote EMS to Pinarayi Vijayan, who does not practice the theory.

Abdullakutty expressed his surprise at the CPI(M)’s opposition to the Uniform Civil Code, pointing out that their earlier party documents indicate their support for UCC. He suggested that Pinarayi’s opposition to the UCC is driven by ulterior motives. Pinarayi seeks to secure votes from orthodox Muslims in order to pave the way for his son-in-law Mohammed Riyas to become the Chief Minister of Kerala. Abdullakutty believes this to be Pinarayi’s sole malicious intention.

Abdullakutty predicts that, similar to the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bal Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena, a faction within the CPM will soon emerge in favor of the UCC. He believes that an internal outburst against Pinarayi’s appeasement politics and nepotism is not far away within the party.

According to Abdullakutty, Muslims who aspire to embrace the modern age will support the implementation of the UCC. He also emphasized that the UCC will bring about social justice for Muslims who have been constrained by the past.
