Heavy rainfall: Holiday declared for educational institutions in six districts; exams of MG, Kannur, Technological universities postponed

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rainfall is lashing the state with reports of deaths and missing cases coming in. The government has declared holiday for educational institutions in six districts due to the heavy downpour. Schools and colleges in Idukki, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Trissur, Kannur, and Kasaragod will remain closed today.

Educational institutions in Kutanad taluk of Alappuzha and those schools were relief camps are set up in Pathanamthitta will also remain closed today.

The government had declared a holiday for Wednesday for all educational institutions including professional colleges in five districts, barring Kasaragod. Exams of MG, Kannur and Techological universities have been postponed.

However, District Collectors of Alappuzha and Idukki have made it clear that exams that were announced earlier will not be postponed. Kannur District Collector has said that University/PSC exams will not be postponed. Anganwadis, ISCE, CBSE, madrasas will remain shut.

Kerala has declared Orange Alert in 12 districts from Pathanamthitta to Kasaragod. Yellow Alert is given in Kollam district while no special warning is given to Thiruvananthapuram district.
