THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Chief Justice Magistrate Court has authorized an extended investigation into the case involving atrocities in the legislature, while imposing certain conditions. The Court has directed that the investigation must be concluded within a two-month timeframe.

In a surprising turn of events, the Crime Branch police were on the verge of commencing the trial for the incident that occurred in 2015. The police approached the court, highlighting the need to gather additional evidence related to the case.

The court demanded that the investigation progress of the case should be reported to the court on every three weeks.

On March 13, 2015, during the Budget presentation by the then Finance Minister KM Mani, members of the LDF party engaged in acts of violence and assault within the assembly, resulting in a financial loss exceeding Rs 2.20 lakh.

Former MLAs Jamila Prakash and KK Latika approached the court at that time, alleging that they sustained injuries during the altercation in the House, and requested an inquiry into the matter.
