Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) leader and outspoken political leader, PC George, has come down heavily against the CPI(M)’s decision to oppose the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He also minced no words in attacking the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his opposition to the UCC.
After the decision of the Indian Union Muslim League not to participate in the seminar on UCC organized by the CPI(M), PC George spoke with Janam TV.
PC George said, “Muslim League is one of the parties with decent people. It won’t support the illegal activities and businesses of Pinarayi Vijayan. The right or wrong of UCC is a different issue and it is another matter what my opinion on the UCC is.”
He then questioned CPI(M)’s right to oppose the UCC. George asked what EMS Nambootiripad of the CPI(M) had said about the UCC. He reminded that EMS had said that the women of India must unite to demand for UCC.
PC George added that, such a party is now speaking against UCC.
He also said that it is beneath the dignity of the Muslim League to align with Pinarayi Vijayan who is not good for anything and involved in corruption and theft.
PC George revealed that there is a radical group in the Muslim community and that Pinarayi Vijayan is a spokesman for them. Pinarayi thought that if an alliance is forged with Muslim League, then he could wash off his bad reputation of being supportive of radicals.
George pointed out that Pinarayi Vijayan was trying to take advantage of Muslim League in the UCC issue. It was a game by Pinarayi Vijayan. However, Muslim League did not fall for it, he said.
PC George also said that the Congress party cannot exist without the Muslim League. Without the IUML, the Congress party cannot be even considered as an opposition party, he remarked.
PC George is an outspoken leader in the state. He was formerly part of some of the Kerala Congress parties before settling down with his own party, the Kerala Janapaksham (Secular). He has been a member of the legislative assembly for 33 years representing his constituency Poonjar situated in Kottayam district.
He had switched to the NDA before the 2019 assembly elections.
He had once suggested that India must become a Hindu nation. During the Sabarimala issue, he sided with the devotees and criticized the communist government for trying to destroy the age-old traditions of the temple.
