New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with key ministers and officials on Monday to evaluate the situation following the widespread heavy rainfall experienced in various parts of India.

Both national and state disaster response teams have been actively engaged in providing assistance to the affected population in the rain-affected regions.

PM@narendramodi spoke to senior Ministers and officials and took stock of the situation in the wake of excessive rainfall in parts of India. Local administrations, NDRF, and SDRF teams are working to ensure the well-being of those affected, PMO said in a tweet.

With heavy rainfall prevailing in different parts of the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Sunday that rain activity will persist over Northwest India, albeit with varying intensity.

The recent rainfall incidents have tragically claimed the lives of 14 individuals in Himachal Pradesh. In light of the anticipated heavy rainfall, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urged citizens to remain indoors for the next 24 hours to safeguard themselves.

Over the weekend, Delhi experienced heavy downpours, leading to waterlogging in several areas. This rainfall broke a 41-year record. The NDRF officials at the Ghaziabad center have declared their preparedness to handle any unforeseen circumstances arising from the rising water levels in Delhi.

Dr. Charan Singh, Head of the Regional Meteorology Centre, disclosed on Sunday that Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next two days.
