PK Kunhalikutty emphasizes the League’s role in preventing communalism from taking root in Kerala, as the organization prioritizes pluralism and secularism

According to PK Kunhalikutty, the leader of the Muslim League Assembly Party, communalism has failed to gain traction in Kerala due to the League’s commitment to promoting pluralism and secularism. Kunhalikutty stated that several significant developments are currently underway, including the recent UDF meeting. During the meeting, it was agreed upon to organize a campaign focused on pluralism, with the announcement that the campaign would take place on the 29th.

The Muslim League recognizes the significance of diversity, which is why they organized a meeting of Muslim organizations to discuss the Uniform Civil Code. The leader stated that this matter is not solely a concern for Muslims but rather a matter of pluralism, with the Muslim League being the first to acknowledge this perspective. He emphasized that it was the Muslim League that successfully brought together various Muslim organizations, fostering unity and consolidating their viewpoints on the subject.

Kunhalikutty asserts that the Muslim League has consistently opposed communal forces and parties of such nature. Consequently, he believes that while conducting a few seminars or campaigns may not carry significant weight during the UDF’s ongoing pluralism campaign, it is crucial for the opposition to remain united and safeguard India’s pluralistic values when the bill is presented in Parliament. Kunhalikutty emphasizes the importance of collective action in protecting the country’s pluralism in such critical moments.
