Kochi: The High Court of Kerala took the State Police to task for its slow and inefficient investigation into the destruction of vehicles belonging to Ayyappa devotees by Police personnel.
The High Court asked the Police why it was hard to identify the perpetrators since video footage of the carnage was available. This points to police apathy in the investigation.
The Court also warned that the case will be transferred to some other agency if the police persist with this.
Meanwhile, a group of women were stopped by Ayyappa devotees who were trying to enter the holy shrine by using fake identity cards. It is reported that the women came from Andhra Pradesh and were assisted by tour operators who supplied them with fake ids.
The Hindu Aikya Vedi has accused that there was a conspiracy to desecrate the holy shrine with the help of tour operators working from neighbouring States.
The Sabarimala festival is now in its seventh day.
