Kerala State Film Awards: Mammootty wins best actor, Vincy Aloshious best actress

The Kerala State Film Awards 2022 has been announced. The awards were announced by the Minister For Cultural Affairs Saji Cheriyan at the PR, Chamber Secretariat on Friday.

Mammootty won the best actor award for his performance in the film ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam’ directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Vincy Aloshious bagged the best female actor for her role in ‘Rekha’. ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakam’ also won the award in the best film category.

While Mahesh Narayanan bagged the award for best director, Bishwajith S and Rarish won Special Jury mention for best direction.  PP Kunhikrishnan won the award for best character artist (male) for his role in the film ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’and Devi Varma who played Ayisha Rawther in ‘Saudi Vellakka’, won the award for best character artist (female).

M Jayachandran has been selected as the best music composer. Best lyricist is Rafeeq Ahamed. Best male playback singer award was bagged by Kapil Kapilan and best female playback singer award was bagged by Mridula Warrier.

‘Palotty 90s kids’ has been selected as Best Children’s Film. Best child artist (male) was won by Master Da Vinci for his role in ‘Pallotty 90s kids’ whereas Best child artist (female) award was bagged by Tanmaya for ‘Vazhakku’.

Best script writer award was won by Kamal KM for ‘Pada’. Manesh Madhavan and Chandru Selvarajan won the best cinematography award. Best male dubbing artist award was won by Shobi Thilakan whereas best female dubbing artist award was won by Powli Wilson.

Shaheer Kabir has been selected as the best debutant director for his film ‘Ela Veezha Poonchira’. ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’ has been selected as the most popular film. Kunchacko Boban and Alancier gets the special jury award for their performances in films ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’ and ‘Appan’, respectively.

A total of 154 movies were submitted for screening for the state awards. Out of these, 42 were shortlisted for the second round. Though there were plans to announce the awards on July 19, it was postponed due to the demise of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
