Thiruvananthapuram: Speaker AN Shamseer has given an explanation regarding his insulting remarks on the Hindu religion. He clarified that the CPI(M) does not hold an anti-religion stance, and he himself is a person who deeply respects all religions and their beliefs.
Shamseer emphasized that his remarks were not intended to hurt any religious individual or their sentiments. He made it clear that he is someone who values and honors all religious perspectives, without any intention to cause offense to any particular faith. He also highlighted that Article 25 of the Constitution grants citizens the freedom to believe in the religion of their choice.
He calls the situation to be unfortunate. He said, “The situation is getting too much escalated, and it’s worth noting that many others before me have expressed similar sentiments. I also share the same viewpoint. My intention is not to cause any harm or offense to anyone’s religious beliefs.”
Shamseer further states that “CPI(M) has a stance that supports religious beliefs, and I have the support of believers in this regard. However, it is essential not to misuse scientific knowledge under the guise of faith. The constitution itself acknowledges the importance of both religious beliefs and scientific awareness. As a constitutional office bearer, I advocate for promoting scientific understanding. I question how such a statement could possibly hurt the beliefs of religious individuals?”
