THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Patients at Punalur Taluk Hospital in the Kollam district have reported experiencing distress subsequent to receiving injections. Eleven individuals have reported discomfort after receiving antibiotic injections. Approximately an hour after receiving the antibiotic shots, these patients began to encounter symptoms such as tremors and a notable weakening of their physical condition.
Upon becoming aware of the distress expressed by the patients, medical authorities promptly transferred them to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for immediate attention. Subsequently, three children were moved to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
Preliminary evaluations suggest that the issue might stem from complications related to the saline solution. Consequently, the utilization of both antibiotic medications and saline solutions has been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure. Samples of these substances will undergo thorough testing starting today to ascertain the exact cause of the adverse reactions.
Doctors have reassured the public that there are currently no ongoing health concerns associated with this incident.
