THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights has imposed a prohibition on tours and evening study sessions organized by private tuition centers and parallel colleges.
A directive was issued by the Commission, instructing the Public Education Secretary, State Police Chief, Local Secretary, and Transport Commissioner to cease the practice of conducting night study sessions and outings by private tuition centers and parallel colleges.
The circular underscores that the trend of arranging excursions and night classes prior to examinations has been growing.
This decision follows a formal grievance filed by an educator from Mar Thoma Higher Secondary School located in Valakom, Kollam district.
The circular was disseminated by Commission member Reni Antony.
In addition to school organizing excursions that adhere to government guidelines, certain unregistered tuition centers are arranging trips under the pressure of children.
The complaint lodged by the teacher highlighted that there is a deficiency in responsibility for such excursions.
