New Delhi: On the occasion of the Independence Day celebration at Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his strong commitment to propel India into the top three global economies within the next five years. Emphasising the pivotal role of women in India’s development leadership, he lauded their instrumental contribution to driving the nation’s progress forward.

In the realm of civil aviation, India proudly boasts the largest number of pilots, a fact Prime Minister Modi highlighted with immense pride. He also underscored the significant involvement of women scientists in Chandrayaan’s endeavours. The global recognition of women-led development by G20 nations further adds to India’s sense of accomplishment and pride.

The PM also added that a notable shift in perspective has taken place regarding frontier villages, formerly dubbed ‘last villages’ in the country. This antiquated notion has been replaced, and these villages are now seen as the first ones at the border. Highlighting this transformation, Prime Minister Modi welcomed over 600 chiefs from these border villages as esteemed guests at the Red Fort event.

The Prime Minister expressed his happiness and stressed that the national character of unity serves as the most potent catalyst for India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation. Looking ahead, he emphasised the critical nature of the next 25 years on this trajectory.

Addressing the traditional sector, Prime Minister Modi unveiled plans to allocate ₹15,000 crores in support of artisans. Furthermore, he announced the establishment of 25,000 Jan Aushadhi centres and a loan facility for the homeless. Expressing gratitude to the diligent efforts of farmers, he affirmed India’s progress in agriculture.

Focusing on preserving traditional skills, the government will initiate the Vishwakarma scheme in the upcoming months. This visionary programme aims to enhance the quality of products and services crafted by artisans, seamlessly integrating them into both domestic and global value chains. Prioritising inclusivity, the scheme will especially benefit Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Communities, Women, Transgenders, and other vulnerable segments of society. Set to launch on September 17, Vishwakarma Jayanti, the scheme is allocated a substantial budget of ₹13,000 to ₹15,000 crores.
