Bengaluru: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has articulated a profound vision for India’s independence, stating that the nation’s liberation was intended to illuminate the world with its radiance. Speaking at the 77th Independence Day celebration organized by Samartha Bharat at the Vasavi Convention Hall in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, Bhagwat drew parallels between India’s reverence for the sun and its intrinsic identity as a land of light. He underscored that this luminous essence is why the nation is known as Bharat.

“The reverence we hold for the sun has bestowed upon us the name Bharat, where the syllable ‘Bha’ embodies the essence of light. The act of Surya Aradhana (sun worship) holds profound significance on this momentous occasion of Independence Day. The liberation of Bharat was not merely a historic event but a radiant endeavour aimed at illuminating the global landscape,” he expressed.

As he hoisted the Tricolor flag, Bhagwat offered insightful reflections on the national emblem’s significance. He elucidated that the saffron atop the flag signifies the spirit of sacrifice, guiding individuals towards the transformation from darkness to light, in alignment with the principle of Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya. White, he explained, represents purity and selflessness in actions, while green symbolises the potential to attain abundance across intellectual, spiritual, and selfless endeavours, akin to the blessings of Sri Lakshmi.

Bhagwat emphasised that for India to fulfil its role as an enlightening force on the global stage, it must nurture its capabilities. He cautioned against the potential disruption posed by divisive elements and urged for unity in upholding the principles embodied by the national flag. He encouraged vigilance, attentiveness, and a concerted effort to thwart any divisive forces, rallying the nation towards its shared destiny.

Alongside Bhagwat, the event was graced by the presence of notable figures such as Sarkaryawah Dattatreya Hosabale as well as scientist and yoga guru Dr. S.N. Omkar.
