THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite two previous unsuccessful attempts, Jaick C Thomas is once again contesting in the Puthuppally constituency, prompting all three political fronts to launch robust campaign efforts.
The LDF’s substantial election campaigns have been attributed to a perceived fear of failure. Jaick’s argument centers around the state government’s provision of Onam kits to the population, even amid financial strain.
Jaick posed the question: “In Kerala, which had a population of 3.5 crores prior to 2016, do you prefer the UDF, which did not provide kits to a single person, or do you prefer the LDF, which in 2023 prioritizes people’s welfare in the midst of economic turmoil?”
He further questioned whether the LDF’s commitment to the welfare of 6.5 lakh Below Poverty Line people in Kerala, demonstrated through the distribution of Onam kits despite financial challenges, is necessary.
Jaick acknowledged limitations regarding the KSRTC but emphasized that no previous Kerala government has allocated as much funding to safeguard the KSRTC during unprecedented crises. He expressed confidence in the LDF’s ability to resolve the crisis.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit the constituency on August 24, where development-focused discussions will be organized across the constituency’s regions.
