New Delhi: After the Supreme Court of India turned down the Center’s plea to reject the review petition, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said that the petitioners were using the documents to present a selective and incomplete picture on a matter relating to national security.
The Defence Ministry said, “It is reiterated that the petitioners are using documents with the intention to present a selective and incomplete picture of internal secret deliberations on a matter relating to national security and defence.”
According to the MoD, documents that were presented by the petitioners to the apex court were deliberately selected in a way that it presented a very incomplete picture of the Rafael deal.
The spokesperson of the MoD accused the petitioners, “These are a selective and incomplete presentation of the fact and records by the petitioners.”
The MoD continued, “The government also provided all records and files as required by the CAG. The main concern of the Government is relating to the availability of sensitive and classified information concerning National Security in the public domain.”
The Government had earlier claimed that the three documents that the petitioners submitted to the Supreme Court were ‘unauthoriseldy accessed’ and published in a leading newspaper.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused Rahul Gandhi of contempt of court for claiming that the Supreme Court said “chowkidar chor hai”.
