Dawn of revolution lit up dark side of moon: PM Modi hails Chandrayaan-3 in ‘Mann Ki Baat’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Chandrayaan mission as a symbol of India’s indomitable spirit in his recent episode of the monthly radio programme ‘Mann ki Baat’ on Sunday. He highlighted the nation’s determination to triumph under any circumstances as it forges ahead into a “New India.”

Last week, India made history by becoming the first country to successfully deploy a lander on the unexplored South Pole of the moon. This achievement marked the maiden lunar landing endeavour by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and positioned India alongside the ranks of elite spacefaring nations such as the US, Russia, and China.

“On August 23, our Chandrayaan-3 mission proved to the world that the dawn of revolution and resolve can also light up the dark side of the moon. Mission Chandrayaan became a symbol and the spirit of a new India. This ia is an India which wants to emerge victorious at all coasts. It wants to break new grounds regardless of the circumstances,” PM Modi said.

He further said a discussion on India’s maiden lunar landing mission would struggle to do justice to the enormity of its success.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi underlined the pivotal role played by ISRO’s female scientists in successfully executing the ambitious lunar landing. He described the mission as a “classic illustration of women power,” emphasising that Indian daughters are not only breaking glass ceilings but also defying the perceived boundaries of infinite space.

In a separate event on Saturday, PM Modi engaged with the women scientists involved in the ‘Chandrayaan-3’ initiative at ISRO. He commended their crucial contributions in realising the successful culmination of India’s first lunar landing mission.
