THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan, is set to request a report from the state government regarding the decision to appoint former Kerala High Court Chief Justice S. Manikumar as the Chairman of the Kerala State Human Rights Commission.

Back in August, the government made the decision to appoint S. Manikumar as the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission, a move that has garnered criticism from the opposition leader, V.D. Satheesan. Satheesan expressed his displeasure with the government’s choice in a detailed note submitted to the state government.

Now, in response to the allegations raised by Ramesh Chennithala and the Save University Campaign Committee, Raj Bhavan is seeking an explanation. Earlier, V.D. Satheesan, the opposition leader and committee member responsible for selecting the Chairman of the Commission, voiced his disagreement with the selection of S. Manikumar.

Opponents argue that S. Manikumar may be biased and could potentially favor the LDF. The dissenting note from the opposition leader raises concerns that Justice S. Manikumar may not act impartially and fairly.

Raj Bhavan will send a letter on this issue to Chief Secretary Dr. V. Venu.
