Thiruvananthapuram: Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the state today. The forecast predicts rain in both South Kerala and Central Kerala. Authorities have stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance, particularly in hilly regions. A yellow alert has been declared for Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts for the day. The Meteorological Department has cautioned that the monsoon is expected to remain active in the upcoming days. Furthermore, the cyclonic trough over the northwest Bay of Bengal is anticipated to transform into a low-pressure system by tomorrow, further enhancing conditions for rainfall.
With heavy rainfall persisting in Pathanamthitta district, yet another landslide has been reported in the eastern forest area of the district. The river Kakattaar is overflowing. The shutters of Moozhiyar and Maniyar dams were opened again. In response to the forecast indicating rainfall to intensify, the District Collector has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Konni taluk today as a precautionary measure.
