Lucknow: A case has been registered by the Uttar Pradesh Rampur police against Udhayanidhi Stalin in response to his remarks deemed detrimental to Hinduism. This legal action follows a complaint filed by lawyers. Additionally, a similar case has been filed against Priyank Kharge, the son of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and a Karnataka Minister.
The lawyers’ complaint underscores that Udhayanidhi’s comments are seen as sowing division within society. It is emphasised that his statements have offended religious sentiments and disrupted societal harmony. Furthermore, a Supreme Court lawyer has also lodged a complaint against Udhayanidhi Stalin with the Delhi Police.
A noteworthy development is that 262 individuals, including former judges and retired government officials, jointly composed a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In this letter, they requested the initiation of a legal case against Udhayanidhi. The letter argued that his remarks amounted to hate speech against a substantial portion of India’s population and undermined the fundamental principles of the Indian Constitution. They also urged action to safeguard the nation’s secular character.
