KANNUR: An employee of Thalassery General Hospital has been arrested following a complaint of attempting to assault a 15-year-old boy who had come for treatment. The arrested individual is Rameez, a cleaning employee at the hospital.
The incident leading to the arrest occurred yesterday afternoon. The attempted assault took place while the child’s mother was in the Outpatient (OP) registration area. The boy had accompanied his mother to the hospital for the treatment of abdominal pain.
According to the child’s complaint, Rameez took him to the restroom, where he subjected the child to torture and threats.
This shocking information came to light when the terrified child confided in his relatives. As a result, hospital staff and concerned individuals apprehended Rameez and handed him over to the police.
The police have confirmed that a case has been registered against him under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) department.
