Colombo: The death toll in the deadly bomb attacks in Sri Lanka has risen to 207 with another 500 estimated to be injured. The police have arrested 7 persons believed to be behind the attacks.

More than 20 persons who were killed are foreign nationals. Reports say that one person belonging to Kerala is feared to have been killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, the exiled founder of the political party in Pakistan, Muttaida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, has accused that the ISI, the Pakistani secret service, was behind the dastardly attack that shook the island nation.

In a press release the MQM said,” Hussain appealed to the UN Secretary General and all democdratic countries that they should never ignore the possibility of the involvement of Pakistani military and ISI in this horrific Colombo terror blasts at the Churches and hotels as almost every single incident of terrorism globally had its foundation originating from Pakistan.”

The bomb blasts in Sri Lanka  today morning ripped through three churches and luxury hotels. The blasts occurred when devotees were gathered for the Easter mass.

The explosions were well planned and took place in cities and towns that are hundreds of kilometers apart. A total of 8 blasts occurred in Colombo, Kochchikade, Negombo, and Batticaloa.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested 7 persons in connection with the blasts but no further information is available at the moment.

A 12 hour curfew has been imposed in the island country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack in strong words and offered all possible support to the nation reeling under the multiple terror attack.

Narendra Modi while saying that the attacks were “cold blooded and pre-planned barbaric acts”, also said that these attacks were another grim reminder of the most serious challenges posed to the entire humanity by terrorism in the region and the entire world.

Official release by the PMO said, “The Prime Minister renewed the offer of all possible help and assistance to Sri Lanka for ensuring its security against the challenges such as those posed by terrorism. He also wished the injured speedy recovery and offered any required assistance for their treatment.”

The global community have come together to condemn the attack on the holy day of Easter.
