Chennai: In a momentous development for Kerala’s rail connectivity, the second Vande Bharat Express service is set to be inaugurated on September 24th, offering a streamlined travel experience between Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram via Alappuzha.

The Vande Bharat Express, designed for enhanced comfort and efficiency, is poised to transform travel experiences along the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram route. The train’s schedule has been unveiled, ensuring that commuters can plan their journeys seamlessly.

The Vande Bharat Express departs from Kasaragod at 7 a.m. and arrives in Thiruvananthapuram at 3.05 p.m., making it an eight-hour journey to traverse the picturesque landscape of Kerala. For the return journey, the train leaves Thiruvananthapuram at 4.05 pm and reaches Kasaragod at 11.55 pm, covering the route in 7 hours and 55 minutes. This efficient service will be available six days a week, offering commuters a reliable and convenient mode of transportation.

The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for September 24th, will mark the launch of the service. It is expected to be a grand affair, with representatives of the people, dignitaries, and invited guests in attendance, mirroring the enthusiasm that accompanied the debut of the first Vande Bharat Express.

Notably, this new service will operate via Alappuzha, providing a fresh option for travelers. In the event of platform unavailability at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station, the train will be directed to Kochuveli in its initial phase.

The stops along the route have been sanctioned at key locations, including Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur, Thrissur, Ernakulam South, Alappuzha, and Kollam, ensuring that passengers have convenient access to these prominent destinations.

In an exciting development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate not only Kerala’s second Vande Bharat Express but also nine Vande Bharat services on various routes across the country. This historic event will be conducted via video conference following the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann ki Baath’ speech on September 24th.

Southern Railway is set to receive an additional boost with two more Vande Bharat services: Chennai Central to Vijayawada and Chennai Egmore to Tirunelveli, further enhancing rail connectivity in the region.
