Hangzhou: Bharat scripted a new chapter in the register of Asian Games history at the recently concluded 2023 edition held in Hangzhou, China. The Indian contingent delivered a stellar performance, and won a lot of medals at the Asian Games this time, more than ever before. It’s been our best performance so far in the Asian Games.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Pravin of Bharat secured a gold medal in the archery mixed compound team event, marking a historic addition to the nation’s medal history with their golden achievement.
Bharat commenced the 11th day at the Asian Games with a bronze triumph in the team event of the 35 km walk. Ram Babu and Manju Rani formed an indomitable combination, securing the third position and initiating India’s ascent on the medal tally, equaling the medal tally at the 2018 Asian Games.
The final medal count for Bharat stood at a remarkable 16 golds, 26 silvers, and 29 bronzes, reaching a dream achievement of 71 medals. This outstanding feat not only surpassed previous Indian records but also made the 2023 Asian Games the most successful outing for the nation in terms of medal count.
