Hangzhou: India’s archery team clinched gold at the ongoing 19th Asian Games. The triumph came in the compound women’s category, adding the 19th gold medal to India’s impressive tally. The winning trio, comprising Parneet Kaur, Aditi Gopichand, and Jyoti Surekha, secured the gold medal for the nation.
Facing a challenge from Chinese Taipei, the Indian archers showcased exceptional teamwork and accuracy to emerge victorious by the narrowest of margins, with a final score of 230-229.
With this latest triumph, India’s medal count now stands at an impressive 82, comprising 19 gold, 31 silver, and 32 bronze medals. The nation continues to hold its position at the fourth spot in the overall standings at the Asian Games 2023.
Olympic medalist PV Sindhu faced elimination from the women’s singles. Sindhu’s journey came to an end in the quarterfinals, losing in straight sets to a skilled Chinese opponent.
