Central Government delays approval to Pinarayi Vijayan and team to travel to Saudi Arabia for Lok Kerala Sabha regional conference

Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst Kerala’s severe economic crisis, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and team was getting ready to participate in the Lok Kerala Sabha regional conference to be held in Saudi Arabia. But, the team led by the Chief Minister did not receive approval from the central government to attend the conference. Due to this, the meeting, initially planned from the 19th to the 21st of this month, is likely to be postponed.

Despite the initial plans for a delegation, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Industry Minister P Rajeev, to travel to Saudi Arabia on the 17th of this month for the Lok Kerala Sabha regional conference, indications suggest that the trip is likely to be canceled. The main reason for this is the delayed receipt of permission from the central government. While permission for participation in regional conferences in Dubai, London, and New York was granted a month prior, this time, the central government has not issued travel permission, citing the non-receipt of the official notification from the Saudi government.

NORKA has not even decided the topics to be discussed because of not getting the travel permission. The Chief Minister’s planned itinerary included events in Riyadh on the 19th, Dammam on the 20th, and Jeddah on the 21st. The financial mobilization at the conference held in New York in June this year was very controversial. Following this, the central government began to closely monitor the foreign programs of the Lok Kerala Sabha. Questions have been raised about the practical benefits of the Lok Kerala Sabha for the state, especially considering the substantial expenditure involved.
