Trudeau’s misadventure: A boomerang on Canadian image

The parochial Canadian politics of Justin Trudeau is too costly for his people. He may realise it slowly when his people make him jobless. His crocodile tears on a terrorist, a Canadian citizen of Indian ethnicity, exposes the Liberals’ hypocrisy and miscalculation about India.

When an unknown assailant killed a Khalistani terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Canada, Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, remembered the loss of life of one of its citizens. Nijjar belonged to a terrorist group with the common interest of Babbar Khalsa which blew up Boeing 747 Kanishka, flying to Montreal from Toronto on June 23, 1985. In the bombing 329 innocents perished, more than half of them into ashes over the Atlantic. As many as 268 onboard the tragic flight were Canadians. Twenty-seven British citizens and 24 citizens of Bharat also lost their lives.

Canadian investigators said Sikh separatists were behind the attack. Canada did not take the case seriously as it released the first suspect after an eye-wash arrest and refused to cooperate with Bharat in further investigation. The culprits of the Kanishka bombing went scot-free. Liberals like Trudeau had no tears for 268 Canadian citizens killed by the separatists, whom the Liberals shelter for a shameful political gain.

In a sense, Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) is a non-state terrorist group active in Canada with no chance of survival in Bharat! Canada may not gain anything by harboring the terrorists but will only risk its relationship with Bharat because of its unverified allegations against the latter. The allegation itself is a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961. When Canada claims to have a source of evidence against Bharat’s hand in the murder, it indicates an open violation of Article 22 of the Vienna Convention that disallows “intrusion or damage” of the mission. If Canada says it has evidence of Indian diplomats’ involvement how did it collect evidence without an “intrusion”? Canada realized the foul strike later.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was one of the most wanted terrorists in Bharat with a reward of Rs. 10 lakhs for a credible lead to nab him. The chief of the banned KTF had behind him a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol. At least the “Canadian citizen” to whom Canada seemed to be proud of, was not innocent. Bharat has a history of Khalistan terrorism and separatism with experience of significant bloodshed in the name of Khalistan, an impossible dream of a small misguided group.

No country tolerates terrorists and separatists. Can Canada tolerate separatists, who are Interpol-chasing criminals? But Canada gave the pricey terrorist a safe sanctuary because the terrorist has Canadian citizenship and a “vote-bank” behind him. For a narrow 2.1 per cent vote share of the ethnic Punjabi Sikh migrants, Liberals are self-shooting on their feet. All the Sikhs settled in Canada are not Khalistan supporters. Almost all Sikhs, barring the brain-washed ones, are proud of their Indian ethnicity. The Sikh community has a history of many sacrifices to protect Bharat.

Indians say “Thank you Trudeau” for making us recall Canadian fouls over the loss of its citizens and the Liberals’ hypocrisy. Having lost 268 citizens’ lives in the Kanishka bombing, Canada became the second biggest victim of Khalistani terrorism after Bharat. None, but Pakistan, China and Canada may protect the terrorists. But Canada will pay a heavier price, while China and Pakistan have nothing to lose. Allies of Canada and the vast majority of Canadians know it. Bharat is not “the India” of the past. It is a modern nation with 1.45 billion people in a growing economy, potentially the customers of Western economic interests.
