Ho Chi Minh: During his official visit to Vietnam, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed admiration for the strong India-Vietnam strategic ties, citing them as a “source of security, stability, and progress in the region.” The minister underscored the long maritime tradition shared between the two nations during his visit to INS Sudarshini, docked at the Saigon Port in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday morning.

Sharing the experience on his official social media, ‘X,’ Jaishankar conveyed, “Delighted to visit INS Sudarshini, which docked in Ho Chi Minh City this morning. Its visit reaffirms our long maritime tradition. Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has built on that, emerging as a source of security, stability, and progress in the region.”

During his visit, Jaishankar engaged with the young crew, Vietnamese military personnel, and senior officials. He further interacted with the Indian diaspora in Ho Chi Minh City at an event organized by the Consulate General of India, acknowledging and appreciating their contributions to enhancing India-Vietnam relations.

The visit is from October 15 to 18 as part of Jaishankar’s official tour at the invitation of Vietnam’s Foreign Minister, Bui Thanh Son.
