Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted an escalation of rainfall in the state in the forthcoming days. The IMD also mentioned the possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Currently, no special alerts have been issued for any district. According to the Meteorological Department’s observations, the low-pressure systems forming over the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are expected to strengthen, leading to increased rainfall in the state.

In the meantime, isolated areas in the state may experience thundershowers with wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph until Friday. Fishing and sea-related activities are prohibited, and coastal residents are advised to exercise caution.

Gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph, are expected along the Tamil Nadu coast, Kanyakumari coast, Gulf of Mannar, Southwest Bay of Bengal, adjacent Sri Lankan coast, Maldives coast, Southeast Arabian Sea, and neighboring Southwest Arabian Sea.
