Kannur: The custody period for the arrested communist terrorists, Chandru and Unnimaya, has been extended until the 22nd of this month. The Kalpetta District Court remanded them in custody for nine days.

Chandru and Unnimaya were caught in an encounter at Periya, Chappara. After spending five days in police custody, they were presented before the court today. Despite rigorous questioning by various investigative agencies, Chandru and Unnimaya remain unresponsive. Officials noted that both suspects maintain silence when questioned collectively or individually. The ongoing investigation suggests their involvement in multiple communist terrorist activities.

Meanwhile, a gunfight erupted between Communist terrorists and the Thunderbolt Squad in the Uruppumkutty Forest in Ayyankunnu Panchayat, Kannur, today. The firing lasted for approximately ten minutes. The clash occurred during a routine inspection by the Thunderbolt Squad.
