Pathanamthitta: Contract workers labouring at Sabarimala are grappling with dismal living conditions, highlighting the challenges faced by hundreds of individuals. Complaints abound as most of the contract workers employed in various premises at Sabarimala find themselves sleeping on bare floors or cardboard due to the absence of proper sleeping facilities. Basic amenities, including drinking water, are reportedly scarce, exacerbating the challenges faced by these workers.
Some of the workers serving at Sabarimala spoke with Janam TV, revealing the grim reality of the situation. According to their accounts, there is a notable lack of bathing facilities and inadequate provisions for daily morning routines. Furthermore, the quality of food provided for sustenance is deemed unsatisfactory.
It is reported that authorities show reluctance in addressing these issues, leaving employees who already earn meagre salaries without essential facilities. Many of these workers, hailing from other states, toil in the courtyards and porches of the temple premises without even the basic amenities required for personal hygiene. Some workers express fear that if they demand improved conditions, their contractors may withhold work opportunities.
