New Delhi: Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, will continue as the National BJP President till December when the next office bearers of the party will be elected. The decision to retain the Amit Shah as the President was taken in a meeting called to evaluate the Lok Sabha elections and to formulate strategies for the coming Assembly elections.

BJP General Secretary, Bhupendra Yadav, said that the party has decided to increase the membership by 20%. He also said that the membership campaign has already begun and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivaraj Singh Chauhan, will head the campaign as the convenor of the membership drive.

In addition, Dhushyanth Gowtham, Suresh Pujari, Arun Chathurvedi, and Shoba Surendran will assist Shivaraj Singh Chauhan as vice-convenors in the membership campaign.

Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters about Amit Shah’s meeting with party leaders, he said, “Amit Shah during his address said that it is the hard work of the party workers that out of 353 seats, on 220 seats, we got more than 50% votes. He repeated that BJP has not reached its peak yet as he had said on August 9, 2014, soon after taking over as party president.”

The General Secretary said that the party had decided to increase its members by 20% within three months. After the membership drive elections to mandal, district and state level will take place. Once all these elections are over then the new national president of the BJP will be elected.

The general secretary also reported that Amit Shah pointed three things that had become a thorn in Indian politics namely caste, dynasty politics, and communalism. However, the Lok Sabha election proved that the people are against these things.
