Kazhakkoottam: In a recent incident at Barkhat Chicken Stall, located at Kulathoor Junction in Kazhakkoottam, Thiruvananthapuram, the sale of dead chickens was uncovered by vigilant locals. Locals, upon discovering the sale of dead chickens, promptly notified both the police and the municipality.
The incident occurred this morning when a shipment of chickens from Chullimanoor farm to the Kazhakkoottam stall was halted by the locals. Disturbingly, a significant portion of the delivered chickens was already dead. Prompted by this discovery, concerned locals reported the situation to the authorities. Subsequently, health department officials from the municipality conducted an inspection of the vehicle, confirming the presence of numerous dead chickens.
The police have taken the driver and assistant of the vehicle into custody in connection with the illicit sale of dead poultry. This revelation follows numerous complaints from the community regarding the sale of dead chickens in the region. Despite previous reports to the police yielding no apparent action, locals took matters into their own hands, conducting extensive checks in the area to expose such illicit practices.
