Ernakulam: The High Court rejected a plea seeking to quash the FIR registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the PFI (Popular Front of India) terrorism case. The court rejected the petition filed by the accused, stating that the NIA has authority to register the FIR in accordance with the Central Government’s directive.
The High Court accepted the NIA’s takeover of the Palakkad Sreenivasan murder case. The NIA’s FIR in the case outlines allegations encompassing anti-national activities, threats to the nation’s integrity, conspiracy to eliminate individuals of other religious faiths, and plans to establish an Islamic State in India by 2047, along with highlighting connections between the PFI and the IS terrorist organisation.
The High Court affirmed the validity of the FIR against the activists associated with the Popular Front. Advocate Sasthamangalam Ajith Kumar, public prosecutors Arjun Ambalapatta, and Sreenath S represented the NIA before the High Court during these proceedings.
