Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) officially appointed Mohan Yadav, the three-time Ujjain South MLA, as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, concluding days of anticipation. The party also revealed that Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla will assume the roles of Deputy Chief Ministers. Union Minister Narendra Tomar is slated to become the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker.

Mohan Yadav, a former cabinet minister in the state government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has been a prominent figure in Madhya Pradesh politics. Yadav first became an MLA in 2013, representing the Ujjain Dakshin constituency, and secured re-election in the 2018 Legislative Assembly polls.

The decision to appoint Yadav and the deputy CMs was taken during a legislature party meeting in Bhopal, attended by 163 newly elected BJP MLAs and three central observers. The observers, sent by the party leadership, included Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar, BJP OBC Morcha president K Laxman, and party national secretary Asha Lakra.

This development comes after the state elections on November 17, 2023, which witnessed an impressive 77.15% voter turnout, resulting in a historic victory for the BJP in Madhya Pradesh.
