Wayanad: The forest department has initiated a search operation to capture the man-eating tiger in Bathery. The forest department has deployed a specialised team comprising 20 members, including veterinary doctors. The search has extended across the Maramala, Nine Acre, and Gandhinagar areas. To ensure safety, local residents have been advised to relocate to secure places, considering the potential risk of the tiger re-entering populated areas.

To ensure safety measures, a curfew has been imposed, restricting local residents from going out. The curfew decree specifically affects the 11th ward of Poothadi panchayat in Moodakolly. Wayanad South Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Shajna Karim, and Forest Department Veterinary Officer, Dr. Ajesh Mohandas, are leading efforts in the Nine-Acre region.

11 cameras have been positioned across various locations. The search strategy encompasses tracking the tiger’s footprints and monitoring CCTV cameras. Authorities have issued an order to shoot the tiger if it cannot be captured by employing tranquillizing dart.
