Wayanad: Coffee farmers in Vakeri are grappling with a crisis as the fear of tigers has deterred workers from tending to coffee plantations. The farmers highlight that the ongoing harvest season is being severely impacted, leading to significant financial hardships.

During this harvesting period for coffee farming, crops worth lakhs of rupees are going unharvested due to the scarcity of laborers. Despite various protests urging a resolution to the issue of wild animal disturbances in the region, no tangible solutions have been realized. Coffee serves as the primary source of income for farmers in Wayanad, with thousands relying on its cultivation across different areas.

Meanwhile, the forest department is struggling to locate the tiger responsible for the recent killing of dairy farmer Prajeesh in Vakeri, Sultan Bathery. Despite a dedicated 20-member team’s efforts, the man-eating tiger remains uncaught, intensifying concerns among the local community.
