Jammu and Kashmir: Amit Shah, today, praised the efforts of the Jammu and Kashmir police personnel in tackling the menace of terrorism. He directed the state government to honor those officers, who were killed by terrorists, by naming public places after them.

He also said that the government should commemorate the martyrdom of its police personnel in their hometowns and villages.

During the visit he also visited the house of martyred police officer Arshad Khan and handed the appointment order to Khan’s wife for a job in the government.

In the first visit to Jammu and Kashmir as the Home Minister, Amit Shah,  met with officials to take stock of the security situation, review the Amarnath Yathra and to ensure good governance in the state.

Amit Shah also met with sarpanches from the state to get an insight in to the Panchyat functioning in the state.

The Home Minister also held meetings with Governor Satya Pal Malik, Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, four advisors to the Governor, Chief Secretary, and senior officials of the State and Governments, security agencies and armed forces.

Amit Shah’s reviewed the developmental programs and improving the life of the people. His focus was to improving the economic condition of the people in the State, employment opportunities and benefit of social security schemes.

The meeting also included good governance, strengthening panchyat and municipal systems, fast tracking the implementation of Prime Minister’s Development Package, building first class infrastructure, inclusive growth for all communities, balanced regional development etc.

His focus was mainly to provide the benefits of growth and development to everybody including the poorest of the poor in Jammu and Kashmir.

He asked the state government to put the Anti-Corruption Bureau to use in fighting rampant corruption. He also asked the state government to reach out to the highly educated youth of the state and help them find livelihood.
