Idukki: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is set to inaugurate the upgraded Munnar-Bodimettu road on January 5th. Along with this, he will also inaugurate the Cheruthoni Bridge across the Periyar downstream of the Idukki reservoir.

A 42 km road renovation project on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway (NH85) was executed at a cost of Rs 381.76 crore. The road’s width, previously four meters, has been expanded to 15 meters, and zebra lines and signboards have been installed.

On January 5th, the Union Minister will first visit Kasaragod. Following a ceremony there, he will proceed to Kochi, and from there, he will reach Munnar by helicopter. Upon landing at the Munnar High Altitude Stadium helipad, the Minister will travel to the inauguration venue by road. The Uralungal Society is responsible for constructing the opening venue.
