PATHANAMTHITTA: The Devaswom Board has announced that the Board has decided to stop spot booking facilities for darshan at Sabarimala Temple from January 10, 2024. Preceding the Makaravilaku festival, the Board has imposed specific restrictions within the Sabarimala Temple.

Devaswom Board President PS Prashanth stated that the Board has additionally opted to set limit virtual queue bookings for Sabarimala Temple darshan on Makaravilakku day (January 15, 2024) and the preceding day. Notably, the Board has set limit of 50,000 devotees for January 14, 2024, and 40,000 for January 15, 2024 (Makaravilakku day).

Anticipating a huge crowd of devotees on January 14th and 15th, the Devaswom Board strongly recommends that women and children avoid pilgrimage during these days.

To accommodate the situation, Devaswom Board President PS Prashanth stated that the Board has also arranged darshan arrangements for pilgrims from January 16 to January 20, 2024.

Usually, devotees visiting Sannidhanam three days prior to Makaravilakku would camp at various locations within Sabarimala to witness the sacred Makaravilakku.

However, given the expected surge in devotees, managing such an increased presence poses challenges for the Devaswom Board. This scenario could also impact security measures within Sabarimala.

Hence, considering these factors, the Devaswom Board has decided to halt spot booking facilities for darshan from January 10 onwards.
