New Delhi: Calling the naysayers “pessimists”, Narendra Modi said that India will achieve the target of becoming a 5 billion dollar economy. He said that those who doubt this are professional pessimists and asks the people to be vigilant about them.

The Prime Minister was talking at a meeting of launching the membership drive of the BJP in the capital. He launched a toll-free mobile number 8980808080 for the membership drive and launched tree plantation drive. The membership drive comes on the birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of Jana Sangh.

During his speech he said, We are very confident about achieving the goal of 5 trillion dollar economy in the next five years but there are some who are casting doubts over the competence of Indians. They ask what the need of it is and why it is being done. We can call such people professional pessimists.”

Modi added that these pessimists keep complaining about things but do not do anything to make a change. He asked the people to be vigilant of people like these.

However, he said he was open to criticism and suggestions and said that it was important for him. Modi said that though the target looks difficulty it was possible with a firm determination.

The Prime Minister also outlined what it is to be a 5 trillion dollar economy. He said that a bigger economy means more income and share to everyone. To drive home the idea he said that in the history of developed nations they did not have high per capita income. But it accelerated after these countries leaped into high per capita income phase which thrust them into the club of developed nations.

The Prime Minister said that India too can achieve it. He said that decisions are made to increase the income of farmers and to make them potential exporters.

Modi also stressed the role of blue economy or utilizing the resources of the sea more efficiently. He also stressed that the government will invest Rs. 100 lakh crore in infrastructure.
