Fakhruddin Ali condemns cyber attack on KS Chithra, emphasizes the importance of upholding religious freedom

Thiruvananthapuram: Fakhruddin Ali, a political analyst, has strongly criticized the recent cyber attacks against renowned singer KS Chithra in response to her comments on the Prana Pratishta of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In an interview with Janam TV, Ali highlighted the significance of advocating for Chitra Chechi’s religious and faith rights, emphasizing that true progress lies in supporting such causes.

Ali expressed his views on the distinction between criticism and insult, stating that while criticism is acceptable, insult should not be tolerated. He deemed the leftist cyber attack on KS Chithra as foolish, emphasizing that individuals have the civil right, as granted by the Constitution, to propagate their chosen religion and practice its customs. Commenting is permissible, but insulting others is unconstitutional, he asserted.

Drawing attention to the constitutional foundation of the country, Ali noted that the freedom to express opinions exists because of the large majority of the Hindu population, who played a crucial role in framing the constitution. He warned against misusing this freedom, cautioning that those who do so are paving the way for their own destruction. Ali pointed out that in a fascist regime like Germany, such freedoms would not even be possible.

Ali cautioned against repeatedly hurting Hindu sentiments, stating that no one should teach Hindus about secularism. He warned against leading Hindus towards extremist religious thoughts through continuous provocations. He condemned the cyber attack on KS Chithra as a consequence of media manipulation and the ulterior motives of certain individuals who determine what is deemed progressive and reactionary.
