Thiruvanathapuram: Bishop Mar Joseph Perumthottam criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for the migration of the state’s youth to foreign countries.”Young people migrate to foreign countries because they feel that life will not be successful here. To enhance the quality of life, securing better employment aligned with one’s skills and education is advisable,”Bishop Mar Joseph Perumthottam said.

While Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was on the stage, the Archbishop emphasized that authorities should take measures to prevent youths from migrating abroad. These comments were made during a meeting where the Syro-Malabar Church welcomed Mar Raphael Thattil as the newly appointed Major Archbishop.

In response to this, the Chief Minister said that the present day’s youngsters are more aware of the world and they have the conviction of what to study and where to study. Parents are forced to accept their choice. The Chief Minister also pointed out that the government is taking steps to strengthen the higher education sector.

Various dignitaries attended the occasion, including Opposition leader VD Satheesan, Malankara Catholic Church Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis Catholic Bava, Thiruvananthapuram Latin Archdiocese Archbishop Dr. Thomas Jessayyan Netto, Changanassery Archdiocese Auxiliary Bishop Mar Thomas Tharayil, Minister for Ports and Cooperation VN Vasavan, Irrigation Minister Roshy Augustine, Shashi Tharoor MP, and Sharmila Mary Joseph IAS.
