Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition organizations, including the pro-BJP Federation of Employees and Teachers Organization (FETO), are staging a protest today, demanding action on various issues, including the release of Dearness Allowance (DA) dues. The government, in response, has declared dies non to suppress the strike.
The government argues that the strike is unnecessary, asserting that nobody opposes the benefits. However, the opposition is resolute in its demands, calling for the disbursement of Rs 7973.50 crores to government employees and Rs 4722.63 crores to pensioners as DA arrears.
The ongoing strike encompasses a range of demands, such as solutions for salary revision arrears, payment of six installments of DA arrears, and the provision of leave surrender benefits. The Secretariat Action Council, a pro-Congress organization representing secretariat employees, has also declared its support for the opposition’s protest.
